Our Programs

Rise and shine, it is time for school!  Our "Creative Curriculum" is an instructional approach that emphasizes creativity as a core component of learning.  It integrates imaginative inquiry, self-expression, and innovative problem-solving across subject areas, rather than treating creativity as a separate or peripheral activity.  Key elements of this type of learning typically include:

  • Student-Centered Learning:  Encouraging exploration, curiosity, and personal interests.
  • Interdisciplinary Connections:  Linking ideas across subjects to foster deeper understanding.
  • Active, Experiential Learning:  Hands-on projects, collaboration, and real-world relevance.
  • Process over Product:  Valuing the thinking processes, experimentation, revisions, and reflection as much as the final output.
  • Flexible Assessment:  Using formative observations, portfolios, and opportunities for self-assessment to capture growth in creative thinking.
  • Environment and Culture:  Creating a classroom atmosphere that supports risk-taking, imaginative play, and diverse perspectives.

In essence, our "Creative Curriculum" seeks to cultivate creativity as a transferable skill that enhances learning, iteration, and innovation across all areas of study.  At Jessie B's, we believe a “classroom” does not have to be strictly within the school building; learning is all around us and possible in various environments.
