Below we have provided a list of commonly asked questions and answers related to Jessie B’s Academy, LLC and our services.

Do you provide education or only childcare? 

At Jessie B's Academy, our mission is to enrich the educational journey of every child by providing diverse and inclusive learning experiences that extend beyond traditional classroom settings. We believe we are helping to create the next leaders, doctors, lawyers, zookeepers, NBA players, writers, teachers, chefs, and actors. At Jessie B’s Academy we know that to be successful in society, children need proper education to work in a

diverse environment.

 

Does JBA have a Parent Handbook?

Yes. We will review our Parent Handbook during your initial enrollment appointment.

  • Daily Procedures

  • Health Matters

  • Hours of Operation

  • Manner of Payment and Payment Procedures

  • Other Items of Importance

 

How can I access the Parent Handbook?

There are several ways for you to view the Parent Handbook:

  • We will provide a copy of the Parent Handbook during your initial enrollment appointment

  • You can view a virtual copy by logging into your ProCare account

  • We have a copy at the Academy, and you can request to view it during any visit

 

What hours are the Academy open?

Our normal hours of operation are from 7:00AM until 5:00PM Monday through Friday. However, the Academy closes at 12:00PM the first Friday of each month for staff-development.

 

The Academy is closed for the following holidays:

  • New Year’s Day

  • Martin Luther King Jr. Day

  • Presidents’ Day

  • Memorial Day

  • Juneteenth

  • Independence Day

  • Labor Day

  • Thanksgiving and the Friday afterward

  • Christmas Day

  • New Year’s Eve

Please Note: The Academy closes for a two-week vacation each year; 60-days prior notice will be provided.

Please have backup childcare plans for these occasions. No services are provided on weekends.

What is the dress code?

Jessie B’s Academy requires students to wear uniforms Monday through Friday, except on Academy dress-down days. Students are allowed to dress down for their birthday. If your child does not wear a uniform on a normal school day, you will be charged a dress-down fee of $15 for that day.

 

How much does it cost to attend Jessie B’s Academy?

Cost depends on the age of your child, and the services you require. Costs will be reviewed during your enrollment appointment.

 

Do you offer any discounts?

Yes, discounts and scholarships are available. Please inquire about discounts and scholarships at info@jessiebsacademy.org

 

Can I visit my child during school hours?

Yes, you are invited and welcome to visit the Academy anytime your child is present. However, you are asked to avoid visiting during nap/quiet time as much as possible.

 

How does Jessie B’s Academy manage behavioral issues?

How we adjust behavior depends on the age of the child. We will redirect a child to another activity or send them to a quiet area as a calming strategy. If a child persists with disruptive behavior, we will address it with the parent directly and try to resolve it together. Please be assured, at no time will a child be subject to physical punishment or verbal abuse at Jessie B’s Academy.

 

Do you provide meals throughout the day for the children?

Yes, nutrition is important for a growing child, and we provide daily meals and snacks. The Academy participates in the government food program for childcare providers. We ask that you do not send food or drink with your child without prior approval.

 

Are parents allowed to provide treats for the students?

Yes. If you would like to bring a special treat for the children, please make arrangements with the Academy in advance, plan for thirty-five (35) students. You are also allowed to provide treats for holidays and can participate in any activities we have planned.

 

My child is not potty trained; can they still attend Jessie B’s Academy?

At Jessie B’s Academy potty trained means a child is dry/accident-free during waking hours, while in underwear. At the age of two, we will assist you in toilet training your child with the understanding that we will only achieve success if we work together.

 

Are the employees who drive our children required to have a special driver’s license?

Yes. All drivers hold an E class license.

 

What is your child sick-day policy?

Children must be kept home for vomiting, diarrhea, fever, or any other illnesses as dictated by the Academy. The child can return after they have been free of symptoms for 48 hours. In some cases, a doctor’s note may be required before the child’s return. No child will be given prescription or over-the-counter medications, unless a written permission slip has been given by the parent and/or doctor. Once permission is given, please make sure the medication is in the original container as dispensed by the pharmacy.

What are your emergency procedures?

We have safety procedures in place to ensure your child’s well-being and to keep you updated for emergencies such as severe weather, power outages, intruder alerts, etc. For more information regarding our safety protocols, please send us a message via our contact page.

 

In the event of a medical emergency, the Academy will attempt to contact you immediately. If we are unable to reach you, we will start calling people you designated as emergency contacts. If unable to reach your emergency contacts, we will transport your child or call 911.

 

Are all teachers and staff first aid and CPR certified? 

Yes. All members of the teaching and support staff hold current First Aid and CPR certifications.

 

My child has not been immunized. Can he/she still attend?

Your child will not be permitted to attend the Academy until updated immunization records are provided. This includes the chickenpox vaccine, which is required by DCFS for all children unless they previously had the disease.  

What about those who are not immunized because of religious beliefs?

Currently, children who do not have updated immunization records are not permitted to attend the Academy. This includes the chickenpox vaccine, which is required by DCFS for all children unless they previously had the disease.

 

I’ve decided to pull my child out of Jessie B’s Academy. What is the process for terminating my care agreement?

We are sorry to see you go. Please provide a two-week notice by completing our Notice of Termination form. When you terminate care, you will be responsible for a final payment equal to two weeks of care whether your child attends or not.

 

What classroom supplies do I need for my child?

Please see your child’s classroom page for a link to requested supplies.

 

What licensing regulations does the state of Missouri place on childcare providers?

Jessie B’s Academy is proud to say that we are State Licensed. Parents can access the State Licensing Inspection report and Licensing Regulation book by visiting HTTPS://Dese.mo.gov/childhood/child-care/concerns

 

How do I request a year-end tax-statement?

End of year statements are available by mid-January and are electronically sent to parents by January 31st. If a statement is not received by January 31st, please send request to info@Jessiebsacademy.org

My child has been diagnosed DD, can he/she attend Jessie B’s Academy?

Jessie B’s is an all-inclusive academy that provides blended classrooms where students are welcome to study together whether they are a neurotypical learner, neurodivergent, or a student with a disability. Applicants for admissions are evaluated, without regard to race, color, religion, national origin, sex, age, sexual orientation, or any other status protected by existing state or federal law or regulations.

How will you communicate with me about my child? 

All communication pertaining to your child will be conducted through your Procare account or via direct email correspondence.

 

Do children go outside every day?

Yes, if weather permits, children play outside every day!  We believe children can learn anywhere and nature is a natural extension of the classroom.
